New York City Marathon – 6 November
Race report from Louis:
What can I say? I won’t talk about calf strain, covid or the heat and humidity, but will talk about how amazing the route is and the amount of support along the way. It’s genuinely unlike anything I’ve previously experienced; coming up the hill at Lafayette Avenue feels like the entire city is out to support. The locals come off the sidewalks, up close and personal, and you’re greeted by a wall of noise, DJ’s, drums, bells – everything to encourage you to push up the hill! It was incredible, and that was probably the last point on the course that I had a smile on my face!
The organisation is superb, from the early morning bus ride to the start. The city -as many will know- is great, friendly, dusty, noisy & everything you would want and expect from NY. Highly recommend.
Also, on a positive note, my pace was so slow I should be back to club training sessions very soon?
