Mota-vation 5 (Stratfield Brake) – August 29th
A balmy Summer’s evening saw the course record broken, even though the route was extended slightly. The forest and playing field paths gave a cross-country feel to the event, a foretaste of what is to come a few months hence. The race was followed by the prize presentation.

A round the houses of Marsh Gibbon course, finishing at the cricket club, which always seems to produce fast times. James Bolton was first MV50 as usual. Inspecting the chip times, Robert Webster was quick off the start line. The winning time was a new course record.

Hornton 6 Mile – July 14th
Just four Harriers tackled the daunting Hornton 6 in pleasant conditions. Tom Preskett crept under the 40-minute barrier to finish 7th and Caroline Johnstone secured an excellent 4th female placing. It was great to see one of the Club’s original 1980’s members Andy Battye now approaching 70 years of age competing so well. Nicola Leavesley was rewarded with maximum points in the Club Handicap competition. Tom now leads the competition from Alan Harrison, Nicola and Caroline after 7 of the 15 scheduled events.

Black Diamond Yr Wyddfa | Snowdon24 – July 13/14th
James Leavesley ran this super fitness trial up and down Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales. Teams and solo runners attempted to ascend and descend Snowdon as many times as possible in a maximum period of 24 hours. James was the first solo runner, after ten teams, completing nine laps in 21:23:03 and finishing four laps behind the leading team of five.
