Ray Hance – HALL OF FAME
Ray at finish of Argentan Marathon in 1987
Date of Birth: 4th January
Telephone: 01993 811354
e-mail address: ray.hance@tiscali.co.uk
Date started running: 1982
Personal Bests:( No records pre 1986 – all times are as V50+)
5 Mile: 26.09 – May 1986 – Yarnton
10 Mile: 58.21 – April 1986 – Stanwick
Half Marathon: 1.17.49 – September 1987 – Milton Keynes
Marathon: 2.39.52 – June 1986 – Leighton Buzzard**
** Club Record for Vet 50 until April 2004 when beaten by Bryan Vaughan
Favourite Race & Why: Bourton 15-Mile. It is testing but not totally knackering
Career Highlight(s):Winning Leighton Buzzard in 1984 (about 2.43) and Isle of Wight in 2.47.35 in 1986. I suspect this was a better performance than my 2.39.52 at Leighton Buzzard.
Hall of Fame Nominee
Ray came into his own when in his 50’s when he put in some great performances for the Club chiefly over the Marathon distance. His over 50’s Club Record for the Marathon stood for almost 18 years. His nomination to the Woodstock Harriers Hall of Fame is in recognition of his sterling efforts in the gold and black vest.
